"Streamlets are a web streaming mechanism integrated into ActiveMQ". A JavaScript client library (handling the XmlHttpRequest stuff) and ActiveMQ on the server side to easily support async DHTML applications. In marketing jargon: "This means that the DHTML client can send or receive messages asynchronously from the users interaction and can easily databind XML messages received with the HTML DOM to produce some revolutionary applications all with standard DHTML technologies."

To get an idea what that may be good for, have a look at the 2 year old conceptual demo called Orare, utilizing similar ideas. (Yeah, for those who wonder "I've seen this before" - it's a REBOL-backend to lcom-talk :)
