well, thanks a lot.

~$8.91 per key does not exactly fit my perception of cheap in this regard. that's already half the price of e.g. the optimus maximus, but i'm really rather thinking along the lines of those $20 19-key numeric usb keypads.

binding keys is no problem on linux either. the thing is: unless the usb keypad sends a keycode different to that of my real keyboard, it's basically useless for my purposes. and if it does send a differend keycode, it's possibly useless for all other purposes (including the one which it was built for) :)
