"Dasher is an information-efficient text-entry interface, driven by natural continuous pointing gestures. Dasher is a competitive text-entry system wherever a full-size keyboard cannot be used." [via rist@]

Finally (finally, as in "after years"), good messages on the Java Swing front. J2SE 1.4.2 brings a long due overhaul of the default look & feels. on another front, the Looks and Forms parts of the JGoodies suite have been open-sourced.

About Dasher.
Amazing ! I've just tested it during 10 minutes, and it looks great. Disabled people will see their text-entry definitely easier. And I think a plamtop use is faster than the usual/boring interface.

yeah, i think this has great potential for smaller devices (and the eyetracker input seems even more appealing :).

although, just a very subjective observation, i think entering text this way imposes a higher cognitivie load in comparison to e.g. handwriting or typing.
