Bryan O'Sullivan's benchmarking library for Haskell, "criterion", sounds so good it makes me wish something like it came with the standard lib of every language: it measures the system clock resolution, accounts for the overhead of the actual timing, automatically repeats the benchmark to establish statistically significant outcomes, and more.
