ADO (ActiveX Data Objects) is a Microsoft specification for database access. It introduces the concept of a data provider. Microsoft includes an [create ODBC] Provider so that, similar to RDO, it becomes a thin layer on top of ODBC. ADO was superseded by [create ADO.NET].
