"I've got to hand it to Dave Winer and how he's able and willing to tweak some of our basic assumptions of what a blog looks like and how it works. Fundamental things like, "a blog is a reverse-chronological set of postings."

i could now just reply with "eventually they will arrive at small snips of semi-structured data and lots of different views for those snips." then i could make a nifty remark like "now guess, why vanilla's snips are named the way they are :)"

as i'm quite tired of that "my product is the eierlegende wollmilchsau" (read as "my product does everything you want") understatement that dominates quite some blogs i read and as i don't want to fall into that trap myself, i'll remind you of something that has been around for quite a while now:

"Intertwingularity is not generally acknowledged — people keep pretending they can make things deeply hierarchical, categorizable and sequential when they can't. Everything is deeply intertwingled."
-- Ted Nelson
