Paul Resnick: "A report issued last week shows that Internet users have more exposure to political arguments than non-users, and even have more exposure to arguments that challenge the positions they hold."

Predicate dispatch is circling thru the more programming-language oriented websites recently, and it is indeed an interesting concept. Generalising type-based dispatching and pattern-matching, a predicate function is used to determine function applicability. To dive deeper, have a look at the original paper Predicate Dispatching: A Unified Theory of Dispatch (1998), an implementation for Common Lisp (2001), JPred or Cecil.
