after a few days of work digging thru a nicely sized real-world dataset i am once again in deep awe of Arthur Whitney/Kx's brilliant K4 (kdb+). i can only confirm the totally precise observation of someone else: "[with K] it's like you got your hands inside the data" and it's incredible fun watching kdb+ so effortlessly claiming all computational resources that usually remain unused. in a few seconds multigigabyte datasets are computed (out of a mere hundred megs of input data) and a few milliseconds later the first statistical questions are answered. no comments |
