Amazon S3 goes Europe: S3, as of today, supports "location constraints" for buckets. Currently, the only specified constraint is "EU" which forces data to be stored in European data centers. Interestingly, European storage is priced differently: $.15 US vs $.18 EU per GB-month of storage. The documentation on how to apply location constraints is slightly buried in the instructions for REST PUT Bucket (URL may change!). A few quick traces seem to confirm that the European S3 data centers are currently located in Dublin, IE -- that's also where the storefronts for amazon.at/de/co.uk are served from.

so some people still think the UK is part of the EU? ;)
