The great return of the personal homepage compilers: exemplified by Chris Neukirchen's Trivium (the app) and Tom Preston-Werner's Jekyll. And, well, my very own bastard child, the utterly unreleased (never will?) one-night hack v.py -- guess what this beast does. For some kind of historical perspective, go (re-)visit [create Bloxsom] or [create Ikiwiki]. I think Git (and maybe even Github) are at least partly to blame (praise?) for this static website generator semi-revival. I guess keeping a website maintained with an editor, git and a minimal generator tool has a Unix-y sexiness that appeals to a lot of technically-minded people.
