Don MacAskill of SmugMug on their Amazon S3 tech at ETech 2007: "We have three modes in SmugMug's codebase, and can switch between them at will on-the-fly. We can proxy read from S3 and then serve it to the customer, we can send an HTTP redirect to the S3 object, or we can embed real S3 urls [..] in our HTML." -- once again, the SmugMug guys talk about some interesting details in real-world S3 deployment.
