Oh Vim, how much I love thee! Enabling spell-checking in a C++ file only checks spelling in strings and comments. Adorable!

flyspell-prog-mode is the Emacs equivalent, and I use it, but it doesn't help as much as I would like. In particular, it thinks that program identifiers I mention in the comments are misspelled when they aren't English (etc.) words.

Yeah, same behaviour in Vim. I think some simple heuristics would go a long way, especially when combined with a tags file.
